Trump ally MTG calls for Biden officials to be ‘arrested’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is calling for Biden administration officials to be “arrested” if they consider handing over nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
Greene posted a report from The New York Times that said several unidentified Western officials have suggested that President Joe Biden “could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union.” Greene said such a move would be considered “treason” just months before President-elect Donald Trump is set to take office.
“Outgoing administration officials (the admin that massively lost the popular vote and electoral college) should be arrested if they give nuclear weapons to Ukraine. Starting a nuclear war on your way out is treason. The American people do NOT want anything to do with this!!!” she wrote on social media platform X.
In a separate post, Greene said handing over nuclear weapons is “INSANE and completely unconstitutional, possibly an act of treason.”“This must be stopped immediately!! Is the Biden admin trying to start a nuclear war and use it as the reason to stop the transfer of power to Trump?” she wrote on X.
Under a 1994 agreement, Ukraine had given up the nuclear weapons that it inherited from the collapsed Soviet Union in exchange for security assurances. The Kyiv Post noted that the U.S. is not in possession of the nuclear weapons, which Ukraine had given back to Russia in the 1990s.
Reuters reported on Tuesday that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was “absolutely irresponsible” for Western officials to suggest arming Ukraine with nuclear weapons.
“These are absolutely irresponsible arguments of people who have a poor understanding of reality and who do not feel a shred of responsibility when making such statements. We also note that all of these statements are anonymous,” Peskov said, according to the news service.
Greene’s comments come as the Russia-Ukraine war continues to escalate. The Biden administration last week approved Ukraine’s use of strikes using longer-range American weapons and approved sending Ukraine anti-personnel mines.
Trump has long said that Russia would have never invaded Ukraine if he was president and has claimed he can end the war in 24 hours if he was in the White House. It’s not clear what his plan would be for ending the war as Russia continues to escalate the conflict.
